Churches of the Holy Trinity (Agia Triada) and Agia Paraskevi in Pisoderi

The Churches of the Holy Trinity (Agia Triada) and Agia Paraskevi in Pisoderi are two significant religious and historical monuments of the area, closely connected with the events of the Macedonian Struggle and local tradition.

The Church of Agia Paraskevi, a three-aisled wooden-roofed basilica, was built in 1848 by the master Naoum Tsopan. It is located at the lowest point of the village and serves as a cemetery church. Inside, there is a notable iconostasis with 19th-century icons, as well as ecclesiastical books and utensils donated by the Pisoderi diaspora. Of particular historical value is the Chapel of Agios Charalambos, where the head of Pavlos Melas was initially buried after his death in 1904. Today, the church bears an inscription commemorating this event.

The Monastery of the Holy Trinity, located near Pisoderi, was an important educational and religious center. Its katholikon, dating to the 18th century, is a single-aisled building with a dome and features interesting elements of Byzantine art. During the Macedonian Struggle, the monastery served as a refuge for fighters, and when the head of Pavlos Melas was transferred, the fighters stopped here to chant a memorial service in his memory.
