Church of the Entry of the Theotokos (Eisodia Theotokou) in Vasiliada

In Vasiliada, Kastoria, the imposing Church of the Entry of the Theotokos stands as a significant religious and cultural landmark. Built on May 10, 1861, on the foundations of an older church, this impressive three-aisled basilica measures 24×14 meters. The church has a distinctive architectural layout: the left aisle is dedicated to Agios Nikolaos, the right to Agios Ioannis the Theologian, and the women's gallery provides additional space for worshippers.
Inside, the church houses valuable icons created by painters from the village of Chionades in Epirus, predating the current structure and representing exquisite examples of post-Byzantine art. These icons, along with the precise chronological inscription on the southern wall, enhance the monument’s historical and artistic significance.
Today, the church remains a vibrant religious center in Vasiliada, combining its spiritual role with the preservation of local cultural heritage. The annual celebration of the Entry of the Theotokos (November 21) gathers the community, continuing a tradition that dates back to the 19th century, connecting the people with their history and religious values.
