Vlach Villages of Pindos

The Vlach Villages of Pindos, which include Samarina, Perivoli, Smixi, Avdella, and Krania, are true gems of Greek nature and tradition. Located on the slopes of the majestic Pindos mountain range, at an altitude of over 1000 meters, they form a unique destination for those seeking peace and connection with nature. The area is filled with lush forests of fir, pine, and beech trees, as well as alpine landscapes that inspire awe.

Samarina, the most famous and highest village in Greece, sits at an altitude of 1500 meters and is known for its livestock farming and traditional professions such as woodcutting. In the central square, the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (Great Panagia) stands out, surrounded by an impressive pine tree that grew in the temple's sanctuary.

Perivoli, located within the Valia Kalda National Park, is full of natural beauty and history, while Avdella and Smixi, near the Vasilitsa ski resort, are ideal for winter activities.

The Vlach Villages, with their picturesque chapels, stone bridges, and rich wildlife, offer visitors unique experiences for hiking, exploration, and a peaceful escape from daily life.
