Church of Agios Dimitrios in Siatista

The Church of Agios Dimitrios in Chora of Siatista, built in 1912, is one of the most significant religious and architectural monuments of the city. Designed by the Siatista architect Aristotelis Zahos, the church was constructed on the site of an older church that was destroyed by fire, combining Byzantine and Neoclassical elements into an impressive architectural composition.

Its most distinctive feature is the 25-meter high bell tower, which was completed earlier, in 1856, and has become a landmark of Siatista. Similar to that of the Church of Agia Paraskevi, it dominates the urban landscape, offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains.

Beyond its religious function, the church represents the historical and cultural continuity of Siatista. Today, it serves as a place of worship for the local community and a tourist attraction, while the annual feast of Agios Dimitrios (October 26) draws a large number of worshippers and visitors. Its architectural grandeur and strategic location make it an integral part of the city's identity.
