Reception of the Holy Skull of Saint David the Elder at the Holy Monastery of Saint Mark in Proti, Florina

In the joyful atmosphere of the Bright Week, on the afternoon of Thursday, April 24, 2025, the official reception of the holy skull of Saint David the Elder took place at the Holy Monastery of Saint Mark in Proti, Florina.
The sacred relic was brought by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint David the Elder in Evia, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Gabriel, with the blessing and permission of His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida.
The holy skull was received by our Metropolitan, His Eminence Irinaios, together with Elder Metropolitan Theoklitos, accompanied by priests, representatives of local authorities, and a large number of devout pilgrims.
During the reception, our Metropolitan expressed his gratitude to His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida for granting the blessing and permission for the transfer of the Holy Skull to the border region of our Metropolis. He also warmly thanked the Abbot, Fr. Gabriel, for his presence and effort in bringing the relic to the Holy Monastery of Saint Mark.
Finally, His Eminence expressed his appreciation to the Abbess of the Holy Monastery of Saint Mark, Gerontissa Mariam, and the sisterhood for their preparation and organization of the reception and the celebratory services.
Throughout the stay of the holy relic at the Monastery—from Thursday until Sunday, April 27—sacred services were held with the participation of many faithful from Florina and the surrounding region.
